Andrew May - Paintings

I'm really so happy to show you the paintings of Andrew May.
Andrew's works speaks to me so much, both as photographer and painter,
looking at his paintings you will understand why.
I fully agree to the Andrew's opinion about painting, released in a interview on 1STANGEL ARTS MAGAZINE, that in painting to express totally his own self to be emotionally and true, must be not a realistic as a photo. Trought his evolution, attracted by the force of the expression of the media , Andrew reach beautifull and powerfull thick "impasto", almost to strengthen the intention of the soul that comes out of the canvas.
Andrew May's paintings are introspective and autobiographical and not leave us indifferent.

On the a13 heading north - Andrew May

"All a visual artist has to do is go out and look at the world, go and drink in as much new imagery as possible that the outside world can conjure. A blank canvas will still remain a blank canvas if you haven’t interacted with humanity". (From interview on 1STANGEL ARTS MAGAZINE)

Paint of Andrew May

"It is not dissimilair to being in the possession of a mental photograph or a constructed image of scenery floating behind my closed eyes. You bring it onto what ever medium you choose and you have to never let it have a chance to shift its focus until its completion as you are drawing the work out of you". (From interwiew on 1STANGEL ARTS MAGAZINE)

Andrew's men seem to me today's man too close to the sun. Icarus in a suit, minus the wings. Minus a soul too, in many ways. Somnabulistic, they seem. Yes, wonderful work. A little frightening.

Sono spettacolosi.Come puoi immaginare,
Baci Elvi

These paintings some how make me realize how much sadness is in this world and people just seem to not notice..Yet to me he captures this.

Powerful work, like intangibles pulled from the subconscious mind and given a material form - they are both like nothing you have ever seen and a true portrait of everything we have inside us! The one with the stairs leading up will stick in my mind all day! Many thanks for sharing this.

Riflessioni said...

comunque a me sono piacciuti tantissimo.
Un abbraccio
Margy
