One day they came to take me - Un giorno vennero a prendere me

First of all they came to take the gypsys
and I was happy because they stole.
Then they came to taking the Hebrew
and I was silence because they were unpleasant to me.
Then they came to take the homosexuals
and I was raised because me they were annoying.
Then they came to take the communists
and I did not say nothing because I was not communist.
One day they came to take me
and not there was remained nobody to protest.

Bertold Brecht

Laura Tedeschi's shot

Poi vennero a prendere i comunisti

I have heard this poem throughout my life and it always held truth for me. However I never knew who composed it. Brecht's biography gave me greater meaning of the poems history in the arts and social fabric.

Your photo is very beautiful. It has a cinematic feel to it.

The photos so wonderfully dark and full of fear. The poem more often then not is what continues to repeat even when we start believing we have learned from past mistakes.

Wow brodding photograph, those eyes seem to have seen many things. and that Brecht quote is chilly. The two go together finely.
