How fragile we are

Vulnerable - Oil on canvas by Laura Tedeschi

Fragile, vulnerable we are, if we let go away the child inside us.

Green grass, trees, yellow flowers, blue sky, laughter, my sister's squared shirt, my mother's basket full of mushrooms.
I usually stopped to pick flowers, smiled, imagining them placed in a glass of water, in the evening on the little table in front of where dad usually sat smoking a pipe.
The little table there is no more, was given away during the last move.
When was the last time I picked up a bouquet of wildflowers? I can't remember, maybe I'm afraid that people laugh at me?
I hope it is so, because if it were not like this, if I had no more the desire to gather flowers, then all will be lost.

Me, on summer of 1973 - Asiago

Beautiful painting, lovely photo and touching story Laura!

Hope you'll soon pick another bouquet of wildflowers and keep on doing so! Keep that child inside and cherish it!

lovely picture of you.

Laura, this painting is great, I love when you paint human figure, you are really good and authentic for this.

wonderful post.

J’aime beaucoup.
Amitiés depuis la France,

Roger

It takes strength to be so fragile. This painting invites vulnerability and inspires courage at the same time - so beautiful! And I love the old photo of you! An artist from the beginning!

saludos !!!

I agree with Gabriella: It takes strength and braveness to let ourselves be fragile. Those who embrace the path of wickedness and insensibility and whose souls have become as solid and cold as stone, are people who have lost it all.

So, even if it is still little cold and snowy, go and try to look for a little flower and pick it up, and amuse yourself like the very first time you did it,,then,,when you were just a child :)

Oh your picture gave me good bumps when I blew it up larger - I don't know why - it's just an instant of time, you are so carefree and involved in the world - a part of it, unworried by what else is going on, absorbed by the beauty.

I think in some ways you haven't changed. Your painting is delicate and balanced, just like your thoughts.

It's a pity we have to grow up eh? Mind you, I am still waiting to grow upp - I think I am going the other way!

hugs from here :)

Oh I am enamoured of that slash of pink on the left of the back bone and that olive green on the leg. You are very confident in your strokes - and it shows wonderfully :)
