The light hidden itself behind shadow, escaping the rigors of reality.
The shadow tells us the consequences of a gesture, an action of a moment. The shadow exists to tell us the light. With it's distorted version of reality, defines lines of the action and communication of the light.

What you say is so true, and such a beautiful painting to say it even better without words! There is such a quiet intimacy to this vision - the solitary moments one spends in the bath, thinking, relaxing, letting the day's worries dissolve and drain away with the water...

Hey Laura, well were you last night when I went to the studio and painted a really bad painting? :) I wish I had come here first and seen this. Oh well I never thought I would be calling a bathtub beautifil (unless it was Bonnard's) but the play of light, the dappled shadows - just superb!!! Gah, next time I am the studio I am coming here first for inspiration!
